UCW Update: Acceptance of General Employment Letters
UCW is now accepting general employment letters. This option is available only to individuals who have studied in an English-speaking country or in countries where English instruction is recognized by UCW (for example, the Philippines) when the applicant graduated more than five years ago.
These letters must meet the following criteria:
Issued by the employer on official letterhead with a stamp, including contact information.
Confirms the job title of the employee.
States that the employee works in an English-speaking environment.
Specifies that the employee engages in speaking, listening, writing and reading in English as part of their daily work.
An employment letter from their previous employer is required in addition to an employment letter from their current employer if their most recent employment is less than two years.
The company must be located in a country where English is recognized by UCW and the applicant must have been working in a country where English is recognized by UCW.
This adjustment allows UCW to be more inclusive, while ensuring that applicants still meet the necessary language proficiency standards. The changes are aligned with guidelines from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for international students.
